Chair-Free Chicago

Generally speaking, Chicagoans’ reputation for being nice is well-deserved. The one exception is after big snowstorms in the city. After big snows, when people shovel out their parking spaces, it’s not unusual to declare “dibs” and save their shoveled out parking spaces by placing chairs, ladders, etc. in the street.

Chair-Free Chicago lets people declare their street a “Chair-Free Zone” with signs and fliers they can download and print. This community effort encourages fellow Chicagoans to treat each other as nice in the winter as we do during the rest of the year.

Fliers

Visitors to the site can print out fliers that correspond with how mad they are – from Minneapolis Mad (which is still pretty polite) to Chicago Mad (which is mad but respectful) to New York Mad (downright pissed) to Craig’s List Mad (deviantly clever).
